Dawin Santos, 18, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 15, after Town of Poughkeepsie police officers were flagged down by a resident on Oakdale Avenue who reported seeing a black male enter a neighbor's fenced yard and disappear behind the house for a short time, said Capt. Kevin Faber.

The neighbor said the man then jumped back over the fence carrying an item before heading away from the area, Faber said.

Upon investigation, officers discovered an open window and an unlocked down to the rear of the home. The owner of the home responded to the scene and confirmed the residence had been entered and items were missing, Faber said.

Santos was developed as a suspect and located a short time later and interviewed. He was subsequently charged with felony burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

He is being held on $20,000 cash/$40,000 bond at the Dutchess County Jail.
